Why aren’t horses that are to be claimed in a claiming race announced prior to the running of the race as they do in standard-breds. This is information that can be very useful to a handicapper. It is of no use being told after the race which horses have been claimed. By then “the horse is already out of the barn” so to speak.
I hate it that track announcer, Richard Grunder does not even make an attempt to get the horses names right. There are many spanish names that he butchers and names with word plays go right over his head. It’s one thing to not be the world’s greatest race caller, it’s another, not to take enough pride to try to pronounce the horses names as their owners intended.
Gotta agree with admin ….been making bad jokes about Richard’s miscues on name pronouncements for years. Richard, did you ever think about asking the owners, or trainers, how to pronounce their horses names??
And coahkrhk7, your correct about the trots, but they don’t officially
make the announcement until after the car collapses the wings, after the start. If there were a board, like the shoe board, for example, it may change the trainers instructions to the jocks, and really reek havoc on us handicappers, taking the horse off form ….
