Feb. 19th – Day 45
Five 2nds would normally be a cause of pain and suffering, but not yesterday, when our 4th race $12 exacta wager returned $81.20 and our 10th race $4 exacta returned $134.60. Our longshot play was OOM and our conditional Solid Chalk play was too short to play and conveniently finished 2nd.
So it goes…
*****************************************************************************************************
Feb. 18th – Day 44
On Friday, we were lucky indeed (but not in the way you might think)! We had the winner of the 1st $3.20 and our 1st race $4 exacta wager returned $16.80, a DQ in the 5th caused our $20 trifecta wager to click for $200.60, our conditional Value Play in the 8th was too short to bet and then was out of the money, and our 10th race $8 exacta wager returned $35.60.
So it goes…
*****************************************************************************************************

On Thursday, we had four more winners as follows: Winner of the 1st $3.80 and our 1st race $12 trifecta wager returned $88.80, winner of the 7th $3.20, 8th race $12 trifecta wager returned $138.40, winner of the 9th $3.80 and our 9th race $4 exacta wager returned $13.20.

So it goes…
******************************************************************************************************
Feb. 13th – Day 41
On Sunday, while things didn’t go completely wrong, we were shut out. Our longshot play in the 5th, finished an up close 4th at 17-1. Our call for a DD wheel in the 6th was right on, with the 6th race winner paying $44.60. Our value play in the 9th scratched.
So it goes…
*******************************************************************************************************
Feb. 12th – Day 40
On Saturday, Preview Day, the bombs were falling like apples in October. It was a great day of fun and excitement for all, but profits were hard to find. We had the winner of the 7th, $12.40 and our 7th race $8 exacta key box returned $32.60 and we had the winner of the 10th, $5.80.
So it goes…
******************************************************************************************************
Feb. 11th – Day 39
On Friday, a nice day with three winners (none less than 7-2). We had the winner of the 4th $10.80 and our 4th race $4 exacta wager returned $56.20, the winner of the 9th, $13.00 and the winner of the 10th $9.20. Rosemary Homeister and Irwin Rosendo are pregnant. Congrats to you both!
So it goes…
******************************************************************************************************
Feb. 10th – Day 38

So it goes…
******************************************************************************************************
Feb. 9th – Day 37
On Wednesday, we had a $12.20 winner in the 5th. The chalk choked today and a couple of bombs in the late double made certain we didn’t get any ideas about going home even.
So it goes…
******************************************************************************************************
Feb. 6th – Day 36
On Sunday, we collected in four of eight races (with one wheel and one scratch). We had the winner of the 6th – $3.80, the winner of the 8th – $14.00, the winner of the 9th – $9.40. In the 10th, our conditional value play was too short to play, but it won and our 10th race $4 exacta wager returned $33.40.
So it goes…
******************************************************************************************************
Feb. 5th – Day 35
On Saturday, we had one winner, but a sweet one. In the 7th, Bobby’s Bell won and paid $26.60 and our 7th race $4 exacta box returned $70.40.
So it goes…
********************************************************************************************************
Feb. 4th – Day 34
On Friday, we were 3 for 9 with one scratched play. We had the winner of the 2nd $22.80, the winner of the 3rd, $3.40 and our 5th race $8 exacta wager returned $16.20. Our Solid Chalk play was 2nd in the nightcap.
So it goes…
*******************************************************************************************************
Feb. 3rd – Day 44
On Thursday, we missed some serious opportunities when the longshots in our exacta plays fired and the short ends failed to get up: 1st 6-1 shot (winner), 3rd 30-1 shot (show), 7th 53-1 shot (winner). Back to the drawing board.
So it goes…
******************************************************************************************************
Feb. 2nd – Day 32
On Wednesday, we had a good day, with three winners in nine races. We had the winner in all three turf events, but only cashed in two, and we were completely off the 1st race favorite, Stormy C’s and she finished out of the money. A good start to the new week.
So it goes…
******************************************************************************************************
Jan. 3oth – Day 31
On Sunday, our Value Play in the 7th won and paid $31.00, our 4th race $4 exacta returned $14.80, our 5th race DD returned $20.80, and we had the winner of the 10th, $8.00 and our 10th race $2 exacta returned $23.60. Once again, we had the $28.00 winner of the first, boxed in the exacta with two chalkies and in the DD with the odds-on favorite, but neither could come through.
So it goes…
*******************************************************************************************************
Jan. 29th – Day 30
On Saturday, there were three more scratched plays and we collected in 3 of 8, with a couple of nice returns, but that is only half the story. We had the winner of the 5th, $3.40, our $4 exacta wager in the 7th returned $23.00 and we had the winner of the 8th, $6.60 and our 8th race $2 exacta wager returned $17.00. Our “key” in the 4th won and paid $7.80, after the scratch of our key in the feature, our two “unders” ran 1,2, and in the 11th our Lerman bomb popped for $10.40 and $7.00 for place and show. I’ve never been so happy to make so little profit on a day that I could have cleaned up. Here comes the sun……it’s all right!
So it goes…
******************************************************************************************************
Jan. 28th – Day 29
On Friday, a couple of things went right for a change. We had the winner of the 3rd, $4.00 and our 3rd race $4 Trifecta wager returned $62.40 and we had the winner of the 7th, $6.00. Our solid chalk play in the 6th was scrapped when Comatitus failed to meet the 7-5 minimum odds requirement and finished 3rd at even money.
So it goes…
*******************************************************************************************************
Jan. 27th – Day 28
On Thursday, there were three more OST scratched plays, but two of them won anyway. We collected in two others, including an up close 3rd place finish by our Value Play in the 9th. The sun will shine upon us again, but when? In the meantime, we’ll stick to fundamentals and wait patiently.
So it goes…
*******************************************************************************************************
Jan. 26th – Day 27
On Wednesday, the slump continues. Three scratched plays didn’t help, but we had only the winner of the 9th, $4.40.
So it goes…
******************************************************************************************************
Jan. 23rd – Day 26
On Sunday, we cashed in 2 of 8 races, with two more off the turf today. We took it on the chin in the 5th when 45-1 shot Missy Tricky Me was up for 2nd and the odds-on favorite Kaelins Grandgirls could not get up to complete our exacta. Looking forward to a two day freshener. See you on Wednesday.
So it goes…
*******************************************************************************************************
Jan. 22nd – Day 25
On Saturday, we were 3 for 9 with two more scratched from the lawn. In the 4th, our $8 exacta wager returned $17.40, in the 5th, we had the winner $6.60 and in the 7th, our $4 exacta wager returned $12.40. Our 10th race value play was scrapped when they switched to the main track, but Flashy Flirt won anyway ($6.60) and by a safe margin.
So it goes…
******************************************************************************************************
Jan. 21st – Day 24
On Friday, the karma may have been good, but the track was off and did not cooperate. There were three scratches today. Our Solid Chalk play in the 7th finished a close up 2nd and we had the winner of the 8th, $6.00.
So it goes…
*******************************************************************************************************
Jan. 20th – Day 23
On Thursday, we collected twice in eight races. Our chalky selections did nothing today. No excuses, no explanations. The good karma was flowing as I worked on Friday’s card and I think the picture improves nicely today.
So it goes…
******************************************************************************************************
Jan. 21st – Day 22
On Wednesday, our 1st race $8 exacta wager returned $39.20, our 2nd race $10 exacta wheel returned $24.40 and in the 9th, our Solid Chalk play won and paid $4.20 and our 9th race $6 DD play returned $7.20. In the 4th, Smock scratched Saucy’s Got it, as predicted, we had no selections in the 5th and our 8th race play scratched. Our 10th race exotic play exacta box ran 1-3.
So it goes…
*******************************************************************************************************
Jan. 16th – Day 21
On Sunday, we had four winners, including our Solid Chalk play in the 3rd, $6.20, our $8 exacta wager in 4th returned $31.40, we had the winner of the 6th, $5.20 and the winner of the 7th, $5.60. In the 8th, we had the 4/5 exacta, didn’t box and the 5 beat the 4 by a head paying $60.40. We hope someone boxed the exacta that returned $149.00.
So it goes…
***************************************************************************************************
Jan. 15th – Day 20
On Saturday, bombs fell like raindrops again and we had only two short winners in the 4th and the 7th. Bert B Don let us down in the Pasco, congrats to Manicero, a deserving winner with a bright future. Sunday will make or break us for the week.
So it goes…
******************************************************************************************************
Jan. 14th – Day 19
On Friday, we bounced back nicely, cashing in 5 of 10 races including a 24-1 return in the 4th with our $8 exacta wager which paid $194.40. In the 2nd, our $4 trifecta wager returned $65.00, in the 5th, our Value Play was short on value, but won going away and paid $4.20, in the 6th, we had the winner $3.40 and our 6th race $4 exacta wager returned $16.40, and in the 10th, and we had the winner, $6.80 and our 10th race $4 exacta wager returned $18.60.
So it goes…
*******************************************************************************************************
Jan. 13th – Day 18
When you’re hot you’re hot and when you’re not you’re not. We ended 2010 with 14 winners in the last 30 races of the year and here in the middle of January we go 1 for the last 19. Today, all we could manage was four 2nds. Dyslexic readers would have done better as my unders beat my top choices several times today. Proceed with caution until we get back in the groove.
So it goes…
****************************************************************************************************
Jan. 12th – Day 17
I’m a handicapper, not Superman. These are the prices of the ones that beat us today: $18.40, $37.40, $45.20,$18.60 and $53.60. Four of those bombs inherited or made extremely slow EPs, the only kind that this type could ever come home in front with (however the nightcap was honest, but I thru out the winner, because Wright was 0-36 with L4-8 + S types in L3T). We were heartbroken when our 7-1 and 13-1 shots ran 2nd and 3rd in the 6th, beaten by the odds-on Clement runner who got home first with another sub-par effort. Our 3rd race $20 tri returned $40. Whoop-de-doo!
So it goes…
********************************************************************************************************
Jan. 9 – Day 16
On Sunday, two scratches reduced our opportunities when our “Exacta Key” choices didn’t go in the 2nd or the 3rd. Ironically, their stable mates who were POE’s won in both races. In the 8th, we had the winner $14.40 and our 8th race $4 exacta wager returned $43.00, then in the 9th our $4 exacta returned $14.40, salvaging the day.
So it goes…
*****************************************************************************************************
Jan. 8th – Day 15
On Saturday, we had three winners and two exactas (in 3 races) but they were all short and failed to keep us afloat for the day. In the lowlight of the day, Ness burned us again in the feature with See I A ($17.00) while our even money favorite Wildcat Frankie led to the stretch and then faltered.
So it goes…
******************************************************************************************************
Jan. 7th – Day 14
On Friday, we collected with the winner of the 2nd, $9.20 and our 2nd race $4 exacta wager returned $18.80. We also had the winner of the 10th, $5.20. Five of our selections, three favorites and two second choices at post time, finished out of the money. The action horses, along with a couple of longshots ruled the day. We made no prime selections today, action plays only on Friday.
So it goes…
*******************************************************************************************************
Jan. 5th – Day 13
On Wednesday, we had a great day, collecting in 5 of 10 races. Both of our longshot plays ran 2nd and we profited nicely on our across the board wagers, we had the winner of the 2nd $5.60, our 4th race $4 exotic play returned $14.00, we had the winner of the 9th, $8.00 and our 9th race $2 straight exacta returned $20.80 and our 10th race $32 trifecta wager returned $166.80.
So it goes…
******************************************************************************************************
Jan. 2nd - Day 12
On Sunday, our first exotic play of the season was scrapped when Nemo Landing scratched in the 5th. We collected in three of the remaining nine, but the returns were inadequate to make for a profitable day. We had the $57.40 triple in the opener, a $23.60 exacta in the 6th, and the winner of the 8th, $6.60 and the 8th race trifecta, $75.20.
So it goes…
Jan. 1st – Day 11
On Saturday, we had the $25.60 trifecta in the opener, then in the 3rd our $12 tri clicked for $211.80. Our $8 exacta wager in the feature also clicked for $31.20. Selections in one race completely scratched and several other bets were abbreviated by scratches.
So it goes…
*******************************************************************************************************
Dec. 31st – Day 10
On Friday, 2010 ended on a high note, with four more winners today (and 14 of the the last 30). We had the winner of the 1st $11.80, our $2 saver exacta in the 2nd clicked for $31.80, then we had the winners of the 5th ($3.80) and the 9th ($3.80) and we had the short trifecta in the 9th for $38.00.
So it goes…
*******************************************************************************************************
Dec. 30th – Day 9
On Thursday, we cashed in 5 of 10 races again. We had one winner, four exactas (including the 8th race $49.40 payoff) and a short trifecta.
So it goes…
*****************************************************************************************************
Dec. 29th – Day 8
On Wednesday, we collected in 5 of 10 races, including a winner ($6.20) and three exactas ($20.80, $61.60 and $24.40). Our value play, missed by a head, but we made a 20% profit on the across the board action.
So it goes…
********************************************************************************************************
Dec. 26th – Day 7
On Cotillion Day, when the two year olds rule (and we usually lay low) we had two winners and two exactas . All and all it was a decent day. On Wednesday, the season gets going full tilt with five days of racing every week.
So it goes…
*******************************************************************************************************
Dec. 23rd – Day 6
On Thursday, the bankroll plumped up like a “Ballpark” frankfurter, after a couple of nice trifectas made for a Merry Christmas! In the 5th, our $12 trifecta returned $345.00 and in the 8th, our $24 trifecta returned $229.20. For the next few days, we’ll be focused on the things that really matter, friends, family and all the other blessings in our lives. Merry Christmas to all!
So it goes….
*******************************************************************************************************
Dec. 22nd – Day 5
On Wednesday, we cashed three times but managed to go home in the red. Our solid chalk play in the 1st won and paid $3.40, in the 6th, our $16 trifecta wager returned $83.60 and we had the 9th race winner, $3.40. We’ll be looking to get it right tomorrow, before the Christmas break.
So it goes…
******************************************************************************************************
Dec.18th - Day 4
On Sunday, over the off surfaces, we had two short winners, two 2nds and a couple of trifectas that ran 1-2-4. We’ll be ready on Wednesday!
So it goes…
******************************************************************************************************
Day 17th – Day 3
Ouch! I think we were shut out only once last season, but he we are with a big goose egg on Day 3. We had only two seconds today and mercifully two of our selections scratched.
So it goes…
******************************************************************************************************
Dec. 15th – Day 2
On Wednesday, we had a good day, that could have been a great day. In the opener, our $12 exacta key box returned $171.20. We had the winner of the 3rd, $4.40 and our 5th race $8 exacta key box returned $32.80. Unfortunately, we struck out the rest of the afternoon, with three 2nds in the 6th, 8th and 10th.
So it goes…
*****************************************************************************************************
Dec. 11th – Day 1
After that first hit in the big football game, all the stress and all the anxiety fall by the wayside and the player quickly settles into himself and the job that needs to be done. This is how it is on the gridiron and this is how it is at the racetrack on Opening Day. On the first day of the meeting, we collected four times as follows: 3rd race $8 exacta key box returned $38.40, we had the 5th race winner $3.80 and our 5th race $4 exacta box returned $11.20, our 8th race $8 exacta key box returned $68.80 and our 10th race $12 trifecta returned $207.60.
So it goes…
*****************************************************************************************************
May 2nd – Day 91
On the final day of the season, we collected three times: we had the winner of the 2nd, $2.80, the winner of the 3rd, $6.80 and our 3rd race $4 exacta wager returned $28.00, and we had the winner of the 7th, $7.20. A neck and a head cost us the winners of the 9th and 10th, leaving us with a friendly reminder from the racing gods that the game belongs to them, not us.
So it goes…
**************************************************************************************************
May 1st – Day 90
On Saturday, I collected in five races. I had the winner of the 1st, $6.20 and my 1st race $8 exacta wager returned $23.60, I had the winner of the 2nd, $3.00 and my 2nd race $8 trifecta returned $62.00, my 2nd & 3rd race $16 DD wager returned $22.00, I had the winner of the 5th, $6.20 and my 5th race $4 exacta wager returned $17.40. Finally, I had the winner of the 9th $3.20.
So it goes…
****************************************************************************************************
April 30th – Day 89
On Friday, “the curse of the new subscriber” took its toll on the bankroll. After having been on a roll for weeks, I get a new subcriber yesterday and things fall apart. We’ll keep his identity anonymous, so he doesn’t get any hate mail, but that’s what it was. A sort of beginner’s luck in reverse. Just the racing gods’ way of testing the faith of the new guy. In the 6th race today, my $4 exacta play returned $30.00.
So it goes…
*****************************************************************************************************
April 28th – Day 88
On Wednesday, I had four winning selections in ten races (the 6th race Jazzit play scratched). My 2nd race $4 exacta box returned $7.20, my 3rd race $4 trifecta wager returned $36.20, I had the winner of the 4th, $4.60 and my 4th race $8 exacta wager returned $17.80 and I had the winner of the 7th, $7.00.

My 9th race, solid chalk play, scratched.
So it goes…
******************************************************************************************************

So it goes…
*************************************************************************************************
April 21st – Day 84
On Wednesday, I collected with only three plays. Fortunately, one of them returned 15-2 and that kept me alive to see another day. In the 1st, my long shot play, He’s Got Heart, had to settle for 3rd at 7.30-1 and paid only $3.00 for the show after the odds-on favorite hung on by a neck. In the 6th, my $8 exacta wager returned $68.80. I had the winner of the 8th, Wild Storm Cat, $7.80, and my 8th race $12 trifecta wager returned $41.00.
So it goes…
***************************************************************************************************
April 18th – Day 83
On Sunday, I collected five times, but we had to work with the remains of the day after the rain (and the subsequent scratches that followed) left us little to work with. My 2nd race $4 exacta wager returned $12.40, my 4th race 5-1 across the board value play, Keyhole, was 3rd and returned $3.80 for the Show, I had the winner of the 5th, Heaven’s Reward, $3.40 and a $6 exacta key with the remains of my 5th race tri play returned $12.00, in the 6th, a $6 exacta key with the remains of my 6th race tri play returned $27.20, and I had the winner of the 10th, FTS Broken Dreams, $4.20.
So it goes…
***************************************************************************************************
April 17th – Day 82
On Saturday, after 10 winners in two days, the racing gods decided to remind me not to get a big head. I had one $4.20 winner today and three 2nds. There are two weeks left in the season and that’s nine more chances to get it right.
So it goes…
****************************************************************************************************

So it goes…
****************************************************************************************************
April 11th – Day 79
On Sunday, a rough weekend came to a close. I had the winner of the 7th, Voodoo Swinge, $5.80. and my 7th race $8 exacta wager returned $35.80. One action play was nixed by a scratch in the first. Since April 1st, all but two of my selections were action plays and those two were Solid Chalk types. With 12 race days left to the season, I would love to see a few cards that I can get really enthusiastic about. We’ll just have to wait and see.
So it goes…
*****************************************************************************************************
April 10th – Day 77
On Saturday, it was a tough day with eight ITM at odds greater than 20-1. My 6th race $12 exacta returned $77.00 and I had the winner of the 11th, Dixie Causeway, $4.00.
So it goes…
*******************************************************************************************************
April 9th – Day 77
On Friday, I had three winning plays but a losing afternoon. My 4th race $8 exacta wager returned $28.80, I had the winner of the 5th, Purely Perfect, $5.00 and the winner of the 7th, Together Forever, $5.40.
So it goes….
*****************************************************************************************************
April 7th – Day 76
Not bad for a cheap Wednesday card. I had the winner of the 4th, Irish Cove, $7.00 and my 4th race tri (which was keyed front and back), was broken up by the scratch of one of the key horses, but if you used the remaining key horse with the second position horses in the exacta, you wagered $6 and collected $185.00 (I did for a change!). My 6th race $12 exacta wager returned $125.60. Two plays, in the 4th and the 8th were nixed by scratches.
So it goes…
******************************************************************************************************
April 3rd – Day 75

Dec. 18th – Day 4
Solid Chalk Play - In the 2nd, Beautiful Brew disappointed as the 3rd choice racing forwardly but gradually weakening.
My action selections yielded a $164 exacta in the 5th, but many of you lost it due to a typo on my part (mea culpa). The narrative outlined selections of 1,5 & 9 but the wager indicated the exacta box to be 1,8,9. This happened after I changed my original selections in the morning after seeing the weather report. I apologize. To rub salt in the wound, the 1,5,9 tri paid $489.80. I hope someone cashed.
In the 10th, my $12 action play exacta box 3,5,10 returned $45.80 and 3,5,& 10 popped in the triple for $333.20

In the feature, the $65,000 Lightning City stakes, Taletobetold ended her 36 race career with a 1/2 length win over 9-5 favorite Easy Ashley. Owner Robert Dewitt said he will breed the 5-year old mare by Tale of the Cat to a “real nice stallion” in Kentucky.
2nd – Value Play – Metal Jacket (6.40-1) did not have it his way when Snuck In Love broke well, rushed up to assume command and held on in a long drive. Metal Jacket pressed the pace and weakened badly pulling up at the 1/16th pole.
2nd – Exotic Play – with Metal Jacket and the favorite Take Down Two tanked.
3rd – Longshot – Spidermandate finished in the top half of the field at 63-1.
